Maja's work is an exploration of longing, identity and distorted sensuality crushed under the weight of half-forgotten childhood memories. It tells the story of a human, born in a bicultural setting, between two lives, who leads the reader from the wild forests and exotic shrub of Australia to the tidy streets of The Netherlands.

Without hesitation, they share their stories; desires and losses, rebirths and dark fantasies. Maja Irene takes the audience to different cities, creating scenes in which the reader can lose themselves, in laundries, at funerals, in holes of crippling anxiety and nights of rawkus pleasure, on dark streets and through moving landscapes. Maja Irene talks about topics such as hereditary traumas, migration and homesickness with an ever-changing background, from the Dutch landscape to somewhere below the equator.
